I don’t know about you, but my life is insane.
It seems the faster I go the less I seem to accomplish – the more my to do list grows.
I run run run and run some more. So much so I wonder why I just don’t run out of gas and stall on the side of the road. You know, like our cars would, if we pushed it too far without re-fueling?
I was traveling all of last week on business and I was subsisting on fast food, hotel food, and food court food and oh boy did I miss my kitchen! I kept craving hot comforting foods from my own kitchen and came home determined to give my body something good, something nourishing, something delicious! To tell it thank you for keeping up with the crazy pace that I’ve set lately! Give something back!
I love porridges.
To me they remind me of my childhood and flannel pajamas in the winter next to a roaring fire. You know… comfortable. I set out to make some and infuse it with as many superfoods as I could. Superfoods like Moringa and Hemp hearts and chia seeds and flax meal and collagen. Then of course you need your flavor enhancers like cinnamon, vanilla and almond extract. And while I’m at it why not add some ghee for those healthy fats?!
So into my cabinets I go and I start pulling out containers. I measure out portions into a bowl, put the almond milk on to heat allowing it to come to a gentle boil. I then start slowly putting in the dry mixture and whisking to ensure I have no lumps. Ok so this stuff is bright green, but it’s all good. Good healthy stuff that your body needs. Or at least my body needed it. So out of the cobwebs of my brain and a need to give something back to my body, Super Woman Porridge was born.
