Let’s talk about expectations.
What are your expectations from THM?
What are you hoping to accomplish?
- Better health?
- Better sleep?
- Better lab numbers?
- Better sense of well being?
- Inch/fat loss?
- Weight loss?
Note, I put weight loss at the bottom of the list. There’s a reason for that. If you’re willing to stick to this way of eating for the long term, meaning adapt it as your way of eating…not temporarily, but from now on, you will ultimately achieve the last thing on the list. But… it is.. the… last… thing.
The first five things will happen–in fact NEEDS to happen before that oh so wonderful 6th item.
Eating the THM way is about healing, rebalancing and fixing your body…from the inside out. Some of us only need a little bit of fixing, and some of us need a downright overhaul. Over time we have done so much damage to ourselves, from many sources such as extreme diets, medications, packaged processed foods, refined sugar, alcohol and even the environment –that our bodies first have to heal, before it will consider releasing fat
We are all individuals..
We all have different issues
We all have different metabolisms
We all have different needs.
Don’t compare yourself to anyone else.
Don’t aspire to be anyone… but the best YOU, that you can be.
Because Jane Doe lost 70 lbs in 5 months…. doesn’t mean you will.
Because you’ve only lost 10 lbs in 5 months, doesn’t mean you’re a failure.
Because you haven’t lost anything in 6 months, doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.
Because you went up 3 lbs on the scale this week, doesn’t mean the plan isn’t working.
Fluctuations and stalls will happen. It’s your body’s way of adjusting to the changes. Roll with it…keep going..and whatever you do… DON’T GIVE UP!
We’ve gotta eat right? So why not eat on plan?
I know I’m a bit of a hard ass when it comes to eating off plan…as in I don’t ever eat off plan….I see no reason to. I feel better knowing I’m nourishing my body, even when I’m eating chocolate covered cream cheese cakes at 9:45 at night. Because that cake is made with yummy superfoods and healthy fats that I’m allowed to have and none of is bad for me. It won’t spike my blood sugar causing and insulin surge, which leads to fat storage. It will do just the opposite, yup…burn fat!
Now..I do have a confession. I did eat a white bread turkey sandwich- completely off plan…once. I had a car accident ended up going to the ER and I was there for like 12 hours. They were giving me medication and I hadn’t eaten in all that time. I told them they had to feed me or I’d be sick as a dog, and that’s all they had besides cookies. So yes, I ate it. Given a choice I would not have but those were mitigating circumstances and a situation completely beyond my control.
But…. in a situation, where you DO have control, and you can decide what to eat… what choice will you make?
It comes down to YOUR decision..YOUR choice.
BE THE BEST YOU, THAT YOU CAN. No one can do it for you!
Happy THMing!
Thank you!!! Things have taken a downturn for me, health-wise, in the past 3 months…the very slow healing process is complicated. Weight gain and loss of any energy were the first symptoms, and undoubtedly will be the last things to get repaired. I needed this encouragement today.
Hang in there Marcy just stay the course. Do the plan as cleanly as you can…choose foods in their most natural, less processed, state as well as incorporating superfoods to help speed up the healing process.
