Why “I” Choose To Not Eat Off Plan

Why I don't eat off plan - decide then do

THM is all about food freedom. The freedom to enjoy really delicious nourishing, healing foods…without being deprived, in any way, form, or fashion.

Yet in spite of all the wonderful things that we are allowed to eat, some people choose to “cheat” or go off plan. Why?

In my 41 months of doing this, I’ve never eaten off plan….with one exception. I was in the emergency room, had been there 6 hours, was going to be given medication, on an empty stomach, and I knew that would just kill me…my body does NOT like meds. All they had available was a turkey sandwich on white bread. Knowing there was no other alternative, I ate it. Those were mitigating circumstances. I understand things will happen, no matter how prepared you are. I didn’t plan on having a car accident and ending up in the emergency room, but I did, so I had to make the best of the situation. Given another choice, I would’ve chosen differently, but that was it, so I did what I had to do.

In my everyday life, no matter how stressed I get, how busy, how crappy I may feel, I keep my head in the game and make wise on plan choices. If you’ve read Pearl’s post from Serene when her both her sons were dealing with major issues, she talked about how when your life is so out of control and you are in the midst of a storm, eating well and nourishing your body is more needed than ever. It is what helps you to cope with things…to think clearer, and to at least not add to the maelstrom by eating…crap.

Let me ask you this. How is your will power? Are you strong enough to to go back and forth, between conventional eating and the THM plan? Can you go have a doughnut at lunch and resume THM at dinner with no struggles? Or are you the one that says oh well, I went off plan today, so I’ll resume on Monday…or next week, and take the next 3 days to completely undo any progress you’ve made so far? If you’re not strong enough to get back up….”don’t intentionally get off the horse”.

How do you feel, when you eat off plan?

Bloated, crappy, headachy, nauseous, guilty?

All I know is I felt like crap…when I ingested sugar, and bread. Those were things that I loved in my previous life, but boy did they NOT love me back. I felt awful, but I kept right on eating them. Why do we do that to ourselves??!

Since THM, I enjoy desserts, I enjoy breads, and I feel amazing! And those 50 lbs that I gave back to the sugar and wheat gods?! They can have them. I don’t want them, now, or ever again.

I make wise choices every single time I put something into my mouth. As long as it!s on plan, it’s a wise choice. No matter what it is.

What choices are YOU making?
It’s simply a decision, I keep preaching that.
No one forces you to do anything.
You choose the food.
You put it on your fork.
You put it into your mouths…

What will your next bite be?
Nourishing and delish?
Or something that feels good for a minute?
